Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Muthurajawela Tank Farm Project, Sri Lanka

The marine oil unloading and oil storage facilities in Sri Lanka (shortened to as the M tank Farm) was once the biggest overseas project contracted by HQCEC during the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” period and is a new product oil storage base of CPC. The China Exim Bank provided a mixed loan amounting to 85% of the contract value. This project was started in July 2001 and divided into onshore and offshore parts, including 29 big storage tanks, supportive and auxiliary facilities, a single-point mooring system at sea and a 7.5-km long undersea pipeline. It’s the biggest oil storage facilities in South Asia and Southeast Asia now. HQCEC undertook the design, procurement, construction and startup of a single point mooring system for the first time, and achieved the mechanical completion two months ahead of schedule. This filled the gap of the company in this area. This project won the 2004 National Silver Key Award for EPC Contractors.
